This Saniflo Carbon Filter Membrane reduces foul odours from the pump units.
This should be examined and ideally replaced every year.
The saniflo carbon filter is fitted in top of the air intake opening. For the water to be pumped out, air needs to replace the volume in the tank or the pump will not wor.
Equally, when waste is flushed into the pump, the air needs to exit the box to allow the water in. This is when smells may come from the unit.
It is essential that at least annual cleaning / servicing / descaling of the pump is perfomed so that this membrane does not accumulate hard deposits of scale preventing the pump from switching on appropriately.
This can, in extreme cases, cause flooding of the pump and the area due to the unit not activating in time.
The Saniflo Carbon Filer can be replaced each time the unit has descaler run through it.
